Roseville, CA – Running a
back-up motor didn’t slow Eric Schmidt of Roseville, CA and the
Frank Jordan-owned Golden State Racing on Saturday night at All
American Speedway.
Schmidt, the points leader in the NASCAR
Whelen All-American Series-sanctioned Western Late Models, qualified
second and nabbed the lead with 12 lap remaining to score win number eight of the season.
“So far so
good,” Schmidt said. “Our spare motor had a bunch of laps on it and
was kinda tired.”
Schmidt
described the action in front of him.
“Gary (Glenn)
was leading and Paul (Harraka) got a run on the inside,” Schmidt
said. “Somehow Gary clipped him and got him out of shape, which allowed me to get around
Paul.”
With 12 laps
to go in the 50 lap event, Schmidt found his way around Glenn, and
was followed closely to the line by Harraka in a crowd-pleasing
victory.
“The crowd
really enjoyed it and it was a fun race to be in,” Schmidt said. “We
got some breaks and got the win.”
Schmidt and
Golden State Racing will return to action on July 28th.
