Roseville, Calif. – Golden State Racing continued its fantastic season at All American Speedway on Saturday, with John Moore of Granite Bay, CA finishing second, Laura Hayes of Wilton, CA finishing third, and Kristin Bumbera of Sealy, TX coming home 13th.
Hayes and Bumbera, who have been featured in both Sports Illustrated and Sacramento Bee as some of the nation’s premiere female drivers, opened up the afternoon qualifying first and fourth respectively.
Bumbera finished second in the dash with Hayes fourth.
Moore was put to the test in the 50 lap feature on the quarter-mile asphalt oval, having to start 12th in the 21 car field.
Bumbera ran as high as sixth but fell back to 13th by lap 17. The young Drive for Diversity driver worked her way back to seventh on lap 39. But a late race spin on lap 47 thwarted the run and forced her to finish 13th.
Bumbera has moved up to eighth in the track points and is expected to continue her meteoric rise.
Hayes ran in the top-five all race, going toe-to-toe with Paul Harraka. The door-to-door action turned into a rough driving penalty on lap 19.
Hayes charged through the pack with ease and came home with a hard-earned third. The rookie stockcar driver continues to adopt to NASCAR Western Late Models and is now 12th in the points.
The hardest charger in the Golden State stable was Moore, who went all the way from 12th to second in just 20 laps. Moore then nearly ran down leader Gary Glenn.
Moore runs second in the points just 43 points back.
Golden State Racing’s pack of talented Late Model drivers return to action Saturday June 7th for a 50 lap contest in the NASCAR-sanctioned competition.
